Most people thought I was crazy when I told them what Andy and I had planned for our anniversary, but I could think of no better way to celebrate it.  It was the first day of our summer vacation, so we took a little road (with all three kids) to Vacherie, Louisiana.  We wanted to show the kids where mommy and daddy got married!  I didn't get those canvas-worthy pictures because of all the people, but I got some great ones that capture the memories of our day there.  Silas and Meredith really surprised me by how much they actually enjoyed the tour of the house.  We had a real "Cajun" tour guide that told the story of the house.  When we saw my mom the next day, Meredith said, "Maw Maw, you know that man bought that house for his wife, but she didn't want it.  No, she wanted to live in the city in New Orleans!" It was really a great day spent with our kids where we were married exactly 8 years ago that day!  Oh, and the necklace Mere is wearing is the one I wore on our wedding day!

mere's pre-k program

My baby graduated from pre-k on May 16th.  Before the program that day, I told her I might cry.  She said, "If you do that, everyone will laugh at you."  Well, I didn't cry.  I definitely teared up, but I didn't cry.  In fact, I had a huge smile on my face the entire time.  My girl rocked it!

At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make Si's Field Day. Things at work are winding down, so I decided to put off some paperwork and go to Spring Creek's Field Day. I'm so glad I did. I had the most fun! The three first grade classes were competing against each other, but the parents of those kids were also competing! There were several events from a relay race, piggy back relay race, and tug-of-war. During the parent tug-of-war, I got pulled on the ground and then dragged for about 3 or 4 feet! I'm still a little sore from it, but it's all good. I loved being able to do this with and for Si. The look on his face after I'd run in the relay race (and did quite well, I might add) was priceless. He was so happy and so glad I was there. It just makes me feel all fuzzy inside :-) The gray team (our team) was in the lead after the first few events, but it wound up a tie between us and the blue team!

I decided I wanted to play with my new lens this afternoon. I told Mere to get dressed up...which we all know she loves to do! Si is still not wanting his picture taken. I asked him when I could take his picture again, and he said, "Probably in September." :-(

I thought I'd already posted some pictures from our weekend in Atlanta...oops!  I emailed Andy some of the action shots so he could post them on twitter, and I guess I just forgot about my blog!

the childress girls

The Childress girls got to spend the entire week together during spring break.  The kids really enjoyed themselves, and Janice continues to prove how brave she is!  She took all four Childress kids on a swamp tour, to McDonalds, and to Global Wildlife during that week...so yeah, either brave or crazy!  I got some great pictures of the girls.  Si just wasn't in the mood to be photographed with the girls, and I guess I can't blame him.  He was surrounded by girls all week, except for when Aunt Teri took him to her house so he could play with Ethan for a while.  Maybe I'll get some pics of all of them this summer.

Mere celebrated her 5th birthday with ponies and polka dots at Critter Crossing Farm in Chatawa, MS.  I want to thank all of the family and friends that were there, and I need to thank Pam Scariano and her family.  They made my Mere Bear's 5th birthday party very special.  The kids had an awesome time checking out all of the animals.  I think my dad may have enjoyed it just as much.  He talked all day today about what he'd learned about the animals!  Anyone with a child should think about having their party at Critter Crossing Farm.  I mean, what kid doesn't like ponies?

mere and the strawberry patch

I went with Mere on her field trip to the strawberry patch!  This was my second pre-k strawberry patch field trip, and I suppose I'm going to have one more when it's time for Amelia's.  I wouldn't miss any of them though.  I love experiencing all of these things with each of them.

Mere definitely loved the strawberries.  I'd guess that she'd already eaten half of what she picked before we left the strawberry patch!

the camp out

It's been almost a week since Reece's camp out and I haven't posted all of the pictures yet. I know...I'm so horrible, right? Si is the one who actually got to camp out, but Mere, Millie and I had our share of fun, too. Rusty and Jana were so brave to take on all those boys for the night! Sunday morning Rusty told me that Si mentioned to him Saturday night that it was past his bedtime! Rusty told him that it was ok...that night was a free night! I love all of these pictures...they remind of me of childhood, innocence, and fun. I realize that I'm truly blessed to live in this little town where pretty much everyone still shares the same values and beliefs...and it doesn't hurt that this little town is in Louisiana....anyone ready for some crawfish??
