We're still using our pre-lit tree that Andy bought at Lowe's at the after-Christmas sale in 2004!  Now that the kids are getting older we're going to have to start getting real trees.  Half of the fun is going to get it!  This year my mom and dad went to Timberhill  to get their tree.  We all went along to help them find that perfect tree. We really enjoyed the expierence.  I'll let the pictures tell the story! (and this post is going to be "picture heavy")

Ok...so I have lots more to post, but we're about to head to Baton Rouge to see The Nutcracker!  Will post the rest ASAP!

Saturday was a fun-filled day starting with our attempt at Christmas pictures and ending at Wall Timber watching an awesome fireworks display!  Somewhere in the middle was the Osyka Christmas parade!

 

tis the season

I was looking back through my pictures and became very disappointed that I don't have more pictures during the Christmas sesason last year.  Then I remembered...I had a hysterectomy last year on December 15th.  So that's why everything is a blur!  Well, I'm determined to "capture more memories" this year...and that's just what I did last Saturday.  We went to Osyka early that morning.  I had hopes of getting this perfect picture for our Christmas cards.  The children were all dressed in their beautiful Christmas attire.  It was a beautiful day, though a bit cold.  However, the children weren't so concerned about getting that perfect picture, and it definitely shows!  I actually did get a great picture of them, and I've saving that one for the cards.  I've posted two on Facebook that I thought would be hilarious as Christmas cards.  Andy thinks I should send those, but I've already shared them with you guys.  I do enjoy sharing those pictures though.  We're cherishing all those moments...the perfect and the "not-so-perfect!"

when we were in 'tucky

We went to 'Tucky (as Mere called it) for the first part of the week I was off for Thanksgiving.  Andy's Uncle Marion passed away, and we attended his funeral.  The kids and I only met Uncle Marion one time, but I really liked him.  He reminded me so much of my Paw Paw Percy. Andy was going to go by himself, but since I was off from work that week anyway, we all decided to go.  I really wanted to see all of Andy's family and let them meet Amelia (the ones that hadn't met her yet).  I wanted to post some of the pictures I took during our trip.  These are random pictures taken in our hotel room, Bass Pro, barns, the family cemetery, etc.

christmas tradition

I've never been one who liked to rush through Halloween and Thanksgiving just to get to Christmas.  I actually get pretty upset when I'm in stores shopping for Halloween and the Christmas stuff is already marked 50% off!  Don't get me wrong...I love Christmas!  I love everything about Christmas - Jesus = the reason, the decorations, Santa, watching Christmas movies with my children and drinking hot chocolate, and the overall feeling of warmth and cheer.  We put up our tree Thanksgiving night.  I realized that we did the same thing last year, so I've declared it as a Childress Christmas tradition!  I'm going to try to "document" as much of this Christmas as possible.  My children are growing up way too fast.  I want to preserve these memories!

I talk about how photogenic Mere is and how she loves to model for me, but I really think I need to talk to someone about getting this child into modeling!  It's just so natural for her.  I was getting ready to take some pictures for a friend Saturday, so Mere and I went out to do a few "test shots" before he got here.  THIS is is what I got:
